Trivia:
This is the first film in the series to feature all three blue-colored mutants: Mystique, Beast, and Nightcrawler.

The only mutants to appear in all 3 prequel X-men movies are: Havoc, Mystique, Professor X, Magneto, Wolverine, and Beast.

Chloë Grace Moretz was set to star as Jean Grey, but declined the role due to scheduling conflicts.

Channing Tatum who's portraying Gambit in Gambit (2016) has say that his character will appear in his own film.

To prepare for her role as Jean Grey, Sophie Turner studied Famke Janssen's performance as Grey in the previous X-Men films.

Sasha Pieterse turned down the role of Jean Grey.

Sophie Turner is best known for her role on Game of Thrones (2011), who costars with Peter Dinklage, who appeared in X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014).

This will be "X-Men" creator Stan Lee's third cameo in an X-Men film.

There are actually three Summers brothers in the comics: Scott, Alex and Gabriel Summers, the brother who went rogue known as Vulcan.

Tuesday Knight launched a failed campaign via social media in an attempt to be cast as the mutant Dazzler.

Ben Hardy is the second actor with the first name Ben to portray Angel in the franchise, the first one was Ben Foster in X-Men: The Last Stand (2006).

Bryan Singer has confirmed the film will take place in the 1980s and will feature other familiar characters in their youth.

Bryan Singer chose Apocalypse as the antagonist to examine the origins of mutants on Earth: "Historical mutants has always intrigued me when we think about our Gods and our history and miracles and powers."

According to Simon Kinberg, this will contain more mass destruction than any of the previous X-Films: "We've spent the most time talking about is creating a character that's the most powerful mutant villain that we've seen in the X-Men movies so far - more powerful than Magneto or the Phoenix! The kind of scope and scale we're talking about is like a disaster movie featuring an extinction-level event. We're talking Michael Bay/Roland Emmerich-style moviemaking, which you've never seen in an X-Men movie, or any superhero movie."

This will be Gambit's second film appearance after X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2009). He was considered to appear in X-Men (2000).

The film was to be called "Age of Apocalypse", after the comic of the same name. But this was changed to simply "Apocalypse" for a more ominous title, as well as to avoid comparison with Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015) and Transformers: Age of Extinction (2014).

According to Simon Kinberg, Apocalypse is the darkest villain in the series: "In the X-Men there really are two leaders: Eric/Magneto his Brotherhood and Professor Xavier and his X-Men. Apocalypse presents a new mutant leader, a super-charismatic leader that will draw people to his cause. But he's not just somebody who's out there destroying the world because he can. What he's doing is - in his mind - justified and validated by a really compelling, coherent philosophy."

Apocalypse's title "En Sabah Nur" means "morning light" in Arabic and it may also refer to "The First One". It also means "Morning Light" in Turkish.
