Twelve-year-old Sivanaindhan, trapped in a life of poverty, longs for freedom in his village dominated by plantain plantations. Between hunger and comforting his mother, he spends his school holidays lugging plantains instead of playing. A school teacher brings a brief respite, showering him with love, but his dreams are soon shattered as fate ruthlessly intervenes.
