A gender debate arises amidst the Saptarishis; Bhrigu Maharshi argues that the males of the human species are responsible for its origin, while the others argue that it is the female gender that is responsible.
They decide to clarify their argument by seeking guidance from Lord Shiva. Maharishi Bhrigu sets out to Kailash and upon reaching there, finds Lord Shiva providing dancing lessons to Goddess Parvathi. They are both so immersed in each other that they were completely unaware of his presence.
Feeling insulted at being ignored, Maharishi Brighu loses his patience completely, becomes infuriated and curses Parvathi that she would be forced to take three human births on earth and must suffer through the trials and tribulations unique to humankind.
In return, Parvathi, also curses the Maharishi to be born as a daemon. Lord Shiva decides to be lenient on Parvathi and reduces her punishment. She would the born on as triplets and complete her curse in one lifetime. He promises to accompany her and turn her curse into a boon.
The crux of story forms all about how Shiva meets these three women and how events unfold for the elimination of the evil demon.
At the climax, Shiva fights the demon (Bhrigu) and releases him from the curse and at the same time Paravati also gets released from all Her human suffering, returns to her original form and reunites with Lord Shiva.
