Keshav falls in love with the liberal thinking Jaya and works hard to win her heart and hand in marriage. They get happily married until she learns that Keshav doesn't have a toilet in his house and the concept of sanitation is non-existent in his society, which becomes the grounds for Jaya to file for a divorce.
