Pelle Lindbergh was a rising star in the NHL, having won the Vezina Trophy as the league’s best goalie and leading the Philadelphia Flyers to the finals in 1985. At just 26, he seemed to have his entire future ahead of him. Tragically, on November 10th, 1985, Pelle crashed his Porsche in Somerdale, New Jersey, and passed away the following day. Two others survived the accident.
“The Swede of Philadelphia” is a compelling and in-depth exploration of Pelle—the goalie, the man, the choices he made. Renowned director Charlie Minn (Lionsgate, ID Channel, Amazon Prime Video) interviews teammates, team staff, and journalists to reveal the multifaceted story of a hockey player whose legacy paved the way for future European and Swedish goalies to pursue their NHL dreams.
