This family-oriented drama delves into changing concepts of gender roles in Indian society. Aruna (Madhavi) is an ultra modern girl. She is of the view that girls have full freedom of partying and going out with friends wherever and whenever they want and has nothing to do with husband's permission.
On the other hand her best friend Vani (Sangeetha) is a very homely girl and follows all rules and regulations of a peaceful married life. But unfortunately, both these girls get married to persons who are totally opposite to their character. Vani gets married to Sudhakar (Rangnath) who wants his wife to be ultra modern and go out to party with him in the pub till midnight, whereas Aruna gets married to Madhu (Chandra Mohan), who thinks that a wife is the main pillar for a peaceful married life and she should take care of each and every minute thing and each and every person in the house.
Both these couples end up with frustration and conflict.. Aruna delivers a baby boy but never gives him the motherly love, as she thinks that the baby is a big hurdle on her way to success. At this critical juncture in their marital relationship, an elderly couple Tayaramma (Showkar Janaki) and Bangarayya (Satyanaraya), with a wealth of experience enter their lives. This couple enquires about Vani and Aruna's married life and solves their problem without hurting anybody.
However, when asked about their own story Tayaramma and Bangarayya, who otherwise are a happy and cheerful couple, shares their tragic flashback which is hard to digest. What clever strategy do the experienced couple employ to bring back harmony between the couples? What happened in the elderly couple's past?
