Terminator-Genisys is many things but not a failed mission, the new fate and new mission was well executed with all the right ingredients.

At last the legendary Terminator which we saw growing up returns with it’s Fifth installment. This has the main ingredient of the series Arnold Schwarzenegger reprising the role of “T-800“. This sequel acts as a retcon to the series which means alteration of previously established facts in the continuity of a fictional work. Which was well handled by director Alan Taylor from “Thor:The Dark World“.

When the teasers and trailers were out it was not that promising, which made me go in with no expectations, but the movie disproved it’s trailer and turned out to be a good one. The best part of the film was it established all the characters with caution and kept the facts in order without confusing the audience. The screenplay by Laeta Kalogridis & Patrick Lussier, was in sync with the original vision of the series.

Arnold, no matter how old he is, the charisma remains the same. His on screen presence as “The Terminator” was great. And this time it had quite a humor side to it with funny antics and dialogues. He brings the dynamism to the “Terminator” series.

Jason Clarke, he has done quite a few roles which has defined his acting career as an actor. He carries the role of legendary John Connor. He did a great job as his character had some layers which came off well in the film.

Jai Courtney, plays the role of “Kyle Reese” one of the pivotal character of Terminator series. His importance is know as the film travels to its vital point. Jai did a good job.

Emilia Clarke(Game Of Thrones), what can I say about her, she’s my favorite on TV and when I saw her on the big screen was spellbound with her looks and great performance as Sarah Connor who is the most vital character of the series. She may look tiny but her acting skills are more than her killer looks. She did a commendable job.

The director made sure to keep all the facts in order, one particular scene where all the pivotal characters are in the same frame from different timelines was wonderfully shot. The screenplay travel was at a good pace not making the movie dull at any point, it keeps you entertained throughout.

The Cinematography was great with sharp editing which kept the movie crisp throughout. The 3D effects were splendid which was not in your face but had great depth and was rendered well, so that it does not annoy you. The action scenes were well choreographed keeping the theme in mind, especially the helicopter chase was a great one. All this was well mixed in a envelope of DOLBY ATMOS, which gave a ground-breaking effect.

Terminator-Genisys is many things but not a failed mission, the new fate and new mission was well executed with all the right ingredients. Like Arnold says “I’m Old….but not Obsolete” . The series may be old definitely not an obsolete, as it ends with a promise for a sequel.

P.S. There’s a short peek of a sequel after the main credits!!!

Justin Lin was the first choice to direct but could not do so due to his commitment to Fast & Furious 6.

Tom Hardy was considered to play the role of John Connor, but ended up playing Mad Max in Mad Max: Fury Road (2015). Sam Worthington played a significant part in Terminator Salvation (2009). Before Hardy, Worthington was considered for the title role of Mad Max.

Ang Lee was in negotiations to direct the film but a deal could not be reached. Other directors considered to helm the film included Rian Johnson and Denis Villeneuve.

Adrian James was offered a role but declined due to scheduling conflicts.

Schwarzenegger explained there are actually two versions of the same T-800 in Terminator: GeniSys, a younger version and an older version that has been reprogrammed.

This is the first film in the franchise in which Arnold Schwarzenegger doesn't die at the end.

Video game developers were on set for the few days, in order to get all the details right for whatever video game they are developing alongside the movies.

Emilia Clarke, Brie Larson and Margot Robbie screen-tested for the role of Sarah Connor. Clarke was eventually cast in the role.

The final choices for the role of Kyle Reese were Boyd Holbrook and Jai Courtney. After numerous screen tests, Courtney was cast.
