Trivia:
The roles of Lakshman, Bharat, Shatrughn and Mandodari were all recast for the sequel.

Although Jamuna appears in both films of the series, she did not reprise her role as Queen Kaikeyi in the sequel. Instead, she appears in prosthetic makeup as the old woman Shabari.

Gummadi, Hemalatha and Jamuna all played the same roles (Dasharath, Kaushalya and Kaikeyi respectively) in the film Sampoorna Ramayan (1973), which was also directed by Bapu.
