Character Error
At 1:36:00, the Bedouin Sheik holds and offers the lamb's head with his left hand. This is contrary to all etiquette, as the right hand is used for eating while the left one is, shall we say, the wiping hand.

Factual Mistake
Gertrude Bell and Winston Churchill 's wife Clementine were cousins on her father's side i.e. via his sister. In spite of the first scene where Churchill asks "Who is this Gertrude Bell?", in real-life he was very much aware of who she was.

Factual Mistake
When Henry is sitting with Gertrude and they are reading Farsi they are using their finger and pointing as they read from left to right but Farsi is a read right to left language.
Trivia:
On their first day of filming, James Franco and Nicole Kidman climbed a tower, where a vulture sat. Prior to filming the scene, Werner Herzog had found the vulture by coincidence, with its owner, by the side of the road and decided to put it into the film. The vulture was not trained for such screen roles, and tried to peck Kidman, but luckily it was on a leash. This scene is one of Kidman's favorite in the film.

Nicole Kidman appears in every scene of the film, save for the opening scene.

Nicole Kidman said she "begged" Werner Herzog to include a scene of her character bathing in the desert, which he happily obliged to. The scene was written on set and finally made it into the film.

Werner Herzog decided to film during a real sandstorm, which is usually avoided and therefore rarely seen in feature films because of the technical problems for the cameras resulting from the sand. Another unique opportunity arose, when the very rare phenomenon of snow in the desert occurred. Both natural phenomena can be seen in the final film.

On set, Nicole Kidman had her own male dromedary, named Barbie.

Werner Herzog finished his first cut of the film only three months after filming wrapped.

Nicole Kidman learned to ride camels for her role.

Naomi Watts was originally cast in the lead role but dropped out and her friend, Nicole Kidman took the role.

Jude Law was originally attached to play Henry Cadogan but after the project was delayed, Law dropped out and James Franco replaced him.

Nicole Kidman held a "wrap-party" on the last day of filming in Morroco. The entire cast and crew was invited.

All five screenings at the Berlin International Film Festival 2015 were sold out within a few hours.

Werner Herzog's first feature film since 5 years and 5 months.

This marks the first time that Nicole Kidman worked with James Franco and Robert Pattinson. She and Franco were set to star in the play "Sweet Youth of Bird" on Broadway in 2011, and she was attached to star in Bel Ami (2012) opposite Pattinson, but both collaborations never went through.

Werner Herzog's first film in the 1:2.35 aspect ratio.

Werner Herzog revealed during his introduction at the AFI Fest that a brand new cut with a running time of 110 minutes was presented. The original version that premiered in Feb. 2015 at the Berlin International Film Festival had a running time of 128 minutes.
