Photographer (2007)

Inspired from true events, this complex social drama delves into one man's struggles to bring to light the plight of the tribal society in India. Dijo John (Mohanlal) is a nature and wildlife photographer who lives with his wife and young son. Being a passionate photographer, he routinely makes trips to the forests clicking pictures for magazines like National Geographic and also on his website which he uses to sell his images online. On one such trip to the forests, he happens to save a tribal boy, Thammi, from the hands of a notorious police officer and his crew and becomes the spokesperson on their behalf. He even takes a photograph of the police officer aiming at the harmless boy and tries to bring the issue to public. However, he accedes to the guidance of his friend who is also the state forest minister assures protection to the boy and advises him from making these incidents more public. Thammi who is lodged in a juvenile home, seems to be settling into a new life, until he suddenly disappears. A distraught Dijo embarks upon a journey into the forest in search of Thammi. He tells so deep into forested territory that he too loses contact with the outside world. Now, it is up to Dijo's younger brother to investigate into the matter. Will Dijo and Thammi be found safe and secure? Or, will Dijo's attempts to be a spokesperson for the tribals and expose their plight to the public, lead him into a tunnel of eternal darkness and dejection? is again on the run towards the interiors of the forest to trace the child. And amidst the new mission, the photographer is also missing.
