In the fifties in Moscow, three women meet in a hostel. Their fates are implied in their characteristics. Antonina is moves on to get married and loves her husband and children immensely, they travel to the countryside occasionally. Lyudmila keeps hoping to win the lottery on happiness someday. Katrina is a strong independent woman who graduates from college and goes on to head the chemical plant in Moscow. But, love comes very differently to these three women, challenging them to do the impossible.
