In Mallela Theeram lo Sirimalle Puvvu, the protagonist, Lakshmi is an unhappily married woman who loves oil lamps and yearns to find true love. She meets and befriends a kindred spirit, Kranthi, a Telugu cinema lyrics writer with the dreamy mindset of a true poet.
Despite Lakshmi's marital status, their friendship blossoms into romantic love over soul-deep conversations while having coffee in the rain or walking in a lawn. But, will she be freed from her marital prison to join with her true love?
Doesn't every woman have myriad dreams about the sort of husband she would like to have? If stuck in the quagmire of an unhappy marriage, does she not have the right to seek love and companionship with another?
These and many more such questions about a woman's right to live life on her own terms and choose a mate of her own free will are explored in this movie.
