Soulful and socially relevant, this masterfully crafted family drama delves into the twists and turns in the life of Sankaran Nair, a government servant who is the patriarch of a joint family. As his three sons grow up into marriageable age, Nair and his wife struggle to financially maintain the household, especially when his eldest son begins to be greedy and selfish, looking out only for his own personal gain, and refusing to share the burdens of day to day expenditure.
As relationships become more strained within the family, the eldest son decides to break up the harmony within the family and asks for his share of the property. The crux of this story eloquently and evocatively depicts how Sankaran Nair and his wife fight to keep their family together against overwhelming odds. Will Shankar Nair succumb to changing times and be forced to allow his family to separate?
This movie is a remake of the blockbuster Tamil film Samsaram Adhu Minsaram (1986), directed by Visu.
