Trivia:
The climax bears remarkable similarity to the Hollywood action movie "Executive Decision" and was considered one of the key reasons for the failure of the movie at the box office.

The film was made in two versions, Hindi and Tamil, simultaneously.

The movie's central plot was based on real life incident of the hijacking of Indian Airlines Flight 814 on 24 December 1999.

The film bombed at the Kerala box-office, even though Mohanlal is seen as a huge superstar in this region.

Amitabh Bachchan was offered 8 Crore rupees for his pivotal but short performance in this movie. He refused payment, as he felt it was inappropriate to be paid for 3 days acting of a guest appearance role from producer Mohanlal, who always has had Amitabh's greatest admiration.

Director Major Ravi reported that the plane sequences would be shot in Russia. Other locations include Ooty and New Delhi.

Both Kamal Haasan and Parvathy Omanakuttan were rumored to be attached to the project in the initial reports.

Before production commenced it was reported Suriya had signed for the film, but backed out due to dates unavailability. Actors Arun Vijay, Sunil Shetty & Narain were all considered for the role. Finally it was Ganesh Venkatrama who essayed the role.
