He is an acclaimed thespian of the British stage, including his work Edward II, and a respected actor in film, which he began into in the late ‘60s. He earned an Oscar nomination for his role in 1998’s Gods and Monsters and has further cemented his iconic status with roles as Magneto in the X-Men films and Gandalf in The Lord of the Rings franchise.
