The scientific body, AIRD, that must approve the robot, declines it based on its not having emotions and the ability to make rational judgment. Then, Chitti falls in love with Dr. Vasi's fiancée Sana (Aishwarya Rai) and turns on his creator.

Continuity
In several car chase shots, the car gets hit or has parts destroyed and in the next scene, the car in like new.

Crew/Equipment Visible
During the song sequence of Kadhal Anukkal, the light reflectors and the crew are visible through the reflections that come from Rajini's sun glasses in many shots, especially in the shot at the beginning of the song where Rajini sits with the guitar in his hand.

Miscellaneous
After the initial demonstration and charging, when Dr Vaseegaran transfers data (before Aishwarya drops at the Lab) the monitor shows "Nueral Schema" instead of "Neural Schema" - a spelling mistake in "Neural".
Trivia:
Kamal Haasan was credited with a special thanks in the film.

Aamir Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, Kamal Hassan and Ajith Kumar were all approached for the role of Dr Vasigaran/Chitti.

The role of Sana was initially offered to actress Preity Zinta who turned it down. Priyanka Chopra, Deepika Padukone, Asin, Trisha Krishnan, Shreya Saran, Priyamani, and Nayanthara were then considered for the role before Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was eventually chosen.

Amitabh Bachchan, JD Chakravarthi, Narayan and Arjun were considered for the role of the villain.

According to director Shankar, he had originally written the movie with Kamal Hassan and Preity Zinta in mind, and they even made a photo shoot for the promotion of the movie.

The soundtrack of this movie became the Tamil film album to find its place in the iTunes World Album Top 10.

This is the first Indian sci-fi movie with 1,500 graphical shots

As for now this movie will be the last film that Rajini will play a youthful character, confirmed by Rajini that in future feature he will chose roles closer to his original age.

This is the eighth occasion in which iconic music director AR Rahman and director Shankar have teamed up.

This movie is lead actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's 5th Tamil film, coincidentally all of them had AR Rahman's Music.

R Rahman's daughter Kathija makes her debut as a playback singer and is coincidentally lyricist Vairamuthu's son Kaarki's first outing as a playback singer for a feature film.

After reaching an astounding levels of success, this movie was calculated to have become the highest grossing Indian movie of all time.

Famous mimicry artist Kottayam Nazir had dubbed for Cochin Hanifa, who had passed away before he could dub for the movie.

Rajnikanth as the evil robot plays the villain after nearly 30 years. The last time he played the villain was in Netri Kann.

This was India's most expensive film at the time it was made.
