Dokhtar (2016)

Evocative and provocative, this socially relevant saga traces the trials and travails in the life of Setare, a bold and fun-loving young woman who wishes to break away from all the barriers that keep her from leading a life of freedom.

She has a very intense relationship with her father, who is Simon tenuously kind and strict, but at times makes Setare feel like she is tied up in chains. After a particularly brutal episode, she decides to defy her father and leave her hometown in the south of Iran for a day trip.

Her wish is to participate in her close friend's goodbye party and return before anybody realises, but on her way back home, a change in weather may change her life altogether. How will her father reacts to her disappearance? What will the future hold in store for Setare and her family?
