This is a revenge thriller that follows the ill-fated love story of Johnson (Kamal Haasan), who falls in love with the daughter of a politician, Madhava Menon (Thilakan). Madhava Menon does not approve of their relationship, and proceeds to show his rancour by destroying Johnson's entire family. Johnson is devastated by the loss and becomes obsessed with avenging the loss of his family. He uses the services of a mimicry artist Jayaram (Jayaram) to implement his plan of exposing Madhava Menon. At first Jayaram does not know Johnson's intentions, but when he comes to know of the real reason behind it, he supports Johnson. Johnson uses clever tactics for his revenge. He asks Jayaram to mimic the voice of the politician, who is now the the Chief Minister of Kerala and read out false promises through TV and radio. This humiliates him in public and irreparably tarnishes his public image, but how will Madhava Menon react to his public image being tarnished, and what will happen to Johnson?
